Transaction and Final Cuts – Training Camp 2020

Louis Robitaille confirmed that he had completed a second transaction. After acquiring 17-year-old Émile Gadoury froms Victoriaville, he had a strong Saturday afternoon, 19-year-old defenseman Gabriel Jackson arrived in Gatineau.

Jackson, a 6’3 left-handed defenseman, lined up until recently with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. He was also on the roster last night when his former team faced the Drummondville Voltigeurs. In 2 pre-season games, he scored 1 goal and maintained a +2 record.

In return, the Olympiques gave up an 8th round pick in the 2021 draft to Blainville-Boisbriand.

Welcome to the Olympiques family Gabriel.

With the arrival of another defender, congestion was expected at the Olympiques blue line. Difficult choices had to be made and defenders Alexandre Hogue and Vincent Maisonneuve had to be cut off.

The organization would like to thank Alexandre for the last season in Gatineau. The small defenseman has accumulated 18 points in 54 games. The best of luck to Alexandre Hogue in the rest of his career.

On the attack, several other heartbreaking choices had to be made. Julien Béland, Olivier Gervais-Daigneault and Mathis Zakorzermy were cut off by the organization. In addition, player Jérémy Rainville, a player who played with the team last year, was also cut.

Rainville, traded to Gatineau last year, the 19-year-old played in 61 games and accumulated 24 points. He was also noticed paired with Métis Roelens and Mathieu Bizier, where the journalists called them the «Jumbo Trio».

We wish the players the best of luck and thank them for their time with the organization.

The organization therefore confirms its alignment for the next season. Unsurprisingly, the top four Olympiques picks at the last draft confirmed their place in the lineup.
