The Olympiques season comes to an end

GATINEAU – The Olympiques were facing elimination last night as they took on the Quebec Remparts for a second game in as many nights at the Slush Puppie Centre. The previous night’s game saw Patrick Roy’s team win by a score of 5-4 in overtime which gave the Remparts a 3-0 lead in the series. Despite the huge challenge the Olympiques faced, the motto is clear: one game at a time. Last night in front of their fans, Louis Robitaille’s men were going to try to stretch their season.
Gendron opens the scoring
With only 9 seconds left in the game, Alexis Gendron wasted no time in getting his 14th of the playoffs. Gendron’s goal was the only one for the Gatineau team as they lost by a score of 3-1 in another very close game that went down to the wire.
See you next season!
One of the highlights of the season was by far the support and energy of the Gatineau fans towards our Olympiques with, among other things, a record attendance and numerous full houses. During his post-game press conference, Louis Robitaille (Olympiques head coach) and Olivier Nadeau (Captain) had very good words for the fans at the Slush Puppie Centre:
“They were incredible. Golden fans. They gave us chills until the very end. – Louis Robitaille
“I was amazed at how loud they were and how they got behind us. It was really special to be able to play in front of a full house at almost every game. I thank them from the bottom of my heart, it has been a great season. – Olivier Nadeau, Captain
This marks the 50th season of the Gatineau Olympiques, the exit interviews will be held this Friday.
