The Olympiques are behind 0-3

GATINEAU – The QMJHL semi-final series between the Quebec Remparts and the Gatineau Olympiques came to the Slush Puppie Centre last night for game #3. Despite two very close games, one of which ended in overtime, the Remparts held a 2-0 lead in the series. The Olympiques were trying to close the gap in front of their fans.
A game that went down to the wire
Late in the first period, Marcel Marcel sent the crowd into a frenzy as he opened the scoring on a short-handed goal off a beautiful pass from Sam Savoie! However, the Remparts would score three unanswered goals and Louis Robitaille’s men would trail 3-1.
At 15:03 of the second period, the Gatineau team took advantage of a power play and Alexis Gendron took advantage of it to score his 13th goal of the playoffs by sending the puck towards the net, which deflected off an opposing defenseman and into the back of the net.
Very early in the third, Olivier Boutin sent a shot from the blue line that beat the opposing goalie between the pads to tie the game at 3-3! At 10:17 in the third, Antonin Verreault gave his team the lead with his fifth of the series. The Remparts then found the back of the net at 16:03 to send the game into overtime.
At 5:59 of the overtime period, the Remparts took advantage of a turnover, James Malatesta broke free and gave Quebec City the win. A heartbreaking loss that saw Gatineau lose for a second consecutive game in overtime.
“Tomorrow is a new day” – Olivier Boutin, Olympiques defenceman
