Good performance by Lapenna

GATINEAU – The Olympiques began a three game home stand against Maritime teams tonight as the Moncton Wildcats visited the Slush Puppie Centre.

Cormier opens the scoring

Midway through the 3rd period, Colin Ratt would get into offensive territory and get around the defenseman before passing to Cole Cormier who would finish for his 26th goal of the season.

At the end of the second period, Alexis Gendron went 2 on 1 with Riley Kidney at his side and fired a shot past the goalie. Riley Kidney got the rebound and scored his 21st of the season and gave his team the lead.

Louis Robitaille’s team wasted no time adding to the lead at 2:29 of the third period when Sam Savoie’s return shot was collected by Cam MacDonald who beat the opposing goaltender with a backhanded shot to bring the Piques lead to 3-1. Olivier Boutin got an assist on the third goal for the Gatineau.

Lapenna closes door on Wildcats

The Olympiques would hold on for their 30th win of the season by a score of 3-2. Francesco Lapenna earned first star honours with 33 saves and a .943 save percentage.

The next game for your Olympiques will be this Saturday at 4:00 p.m. when the Saint John Sea Dogs visit the CSP, it will be a match-up not to be missed!
