Announcement of Jean-François Fortin, Darren Rumble and Raphaël-Pier Richer.
The Gatineau Olympiques organization and its Director of Hockey Operations, Louis Robitaille, confirm the arrivals of Darren Rumble and Raphael-Pier Richer as assistant coaches. These nominations complete the coaching staff that will be in place for the next season. In addition to the two new assistant coaches, the organization also announces the arrival of Jean-François Fortin as Director of Player Development.
Darren Rumble is very well known and respected in the QMJHL. In addition to playing in the National Hockey League, notably for the Ottawa Senators, he was head coach of the Moncton Wildcats from 2012 to 2019. With Moncton, he had 180 wins in 377 games. Most recently, he continued his career with the Shawinigan Cataractes where he supported Gordie Dwyer in the middle of last season.
“Darren Rumble is a major asset to our organization. I’m very happy to see him join our coaching team. His experience as a player in the National Hockey League will allow us to bring our young defensemen to the next level ”- Louis Robitaille.
He will be without a doubt an asset to the organization. Mr. Rumble will act as coach of the defensemen.
IMG_4096Raphaël-Pier Richer is a young 24-year-old coach who did his midget internship with the Intrepid of Gatineau. He will be celebrating his 25th birthday next week. As a former 8th round pick of the Shawinigan Cataractes in 2011, he will be making a second trip to the QMJHL as a coach. For the past 2 seasons, he was an assistant coach with the Acadie-Bathurst Titans, reporting to Bryan Lizotte and Mario Durocher.
This young coach will bring a completely different vision of “coaching”, a considerable asset for the organization.
“Raphaël is a young, dedicated and passionate coach like they don’t make them anymore. His main characteristics are 100% aligned with the values of our organization. In the last two seasons, he has acquired a lot of experience with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Having played his midget hockey in Gatineau, he will use his experience to help our young attackers. In addition, he is a maniac of advanced statistics, a major expertise for our organization ”- Louis Robitaille.
IMG_4098Jean-François Fortin is also joining the Olympiques. As Director of Player Development, M.Fortin will oversee the individual progress of the players at the technical level, with the team players and the players drafted by the organization.
For the past 7 seasons, he acted as an assistant coach with the Blainville Boisbriand Armada. He led the team to a semifinal as well as two league finals. The team also had 5 winning seasons in 7 years when M.Fortin was a member of the coaching group.

In addition, having rubbed shoulders with young players of the Armada and Vikings teams, his approach will be very important for the development of our young players.
