Our scouting team

 

Renaud Lemay - Head Scout

Renaud has been a member of the organization since the season 1991-92. He started as a statistician for 5 years. In 1996-97 he became a scout before becoming Chief Scout in 2006-07. In 2007-08 he left the RCMP to completely dedicate his time to the Olympiques. Since 2006 he puts in a lot of effort so that the people in the Outaouais region continue to cheer on the most titled team in Quebec. He considers himself as a demanding leader that expects the best of everyone. He’s an organized person and people under his supervision always know what to expect. With him there is just no grey zone.


   Kevin Ryan - ( Scout- PEI and New Brunswick region )

Kevin lives on Prince Edward Island and his job consist of scouting the regions of PEI and New Brunswick in Junior A and Midget. He’s been with the Olympiques since 2006. His scouting career brought him to work with a few teams in OHL such as Newmarket and Sarnia. He was also a scout for a Junior A team in Charlottetown and Truro and finally he was with Drummondville just before joining our organization in 2006-07.


   Steven Michael Gionet  - ( Scout- Nova Scotia region)

He lives in Halifax and has been a scout for the Olympiques since the season 2006-07. He covers the Nova-Scotia region in the Midget AAA, Junior A and Junior league. He’s also responsible for scouting in different major tournaments in the Atlantic region. Before joining the Olympiques Steven Michael was a member of an independent scouting company, this allowed him to see and evaluate many players of different ages locally, nationwide and internationally.


  Eric Desaulniers - (Scout- Montreal region)

Eric joined the Olympiques in 2008. Eric lives in St-Jean sur Richelieu and he will be scouting the region of Quebec in the Midget AAA league and for the Midget Espoirs on top of attending different major tournament in the same region. Eric has been working in the hockey world for many years as coach in different levels. Before joining the Olympiques Eric was a scout for Junior AAA, position that he still holds with the Rousseau sport de Laval. This will allow him to follow that league for the Olympiques.


  Jean-Philippe Llorens - ( Scout -Quebec region)

Jean Philippe has been with the Olympiques since 2006. He’s from the Quebec region and he will obviously be scouting that region for the Midget AAA Espoirs and Major Junior.


   Claude Cardinal - ( Scout- Montreal region )

Claude lives in Chateauguay and he’s been with the Olympiques since 2006. Claude is responsible for the scouting in the Midget AAA, Midget Espoirs, Junior AAA and Major Junior. He also covers all the major tournaments for the Midget Espoirs and the ones for Midget AAA in the region of Gatineau and Moncton. For many years Claude was a head coach in lower levels but since he’s accepted to become a scout for the Gatineau Olympiques his devotion and time goes to his job. His experience has a coach makes it easier for him to find and evaluate talent. 

 

   Pierre Boisvert (Scout outside the province of Quebec)

Pierre is native of Gatineau and has joined the Olympiques scouting team in 2010.  He joins the team with a vast experience. He was scout from 1986-1989 for the Bisons of Granby and from 1992-2003 for the Tigres of Victoriaville where he won the President Cup in 2002.  He then became General Manager for the Intrepide of Gatineau for two seasons before becoming scout once again but this time for the Voltigeurs of Drummondville in 2005-2006. Pierre is responsible for maintaining the information on players in the QMJHL on top of following the evolution of players that are free agents and are playing on other territories then the ones for the QMJHL.

 

  Julien Turgeon (Scout Midget Espoirs)

Julien is native of Montreal and he’s joined the Olympiques in 2010.  He’s in charge of following the Midget Espoirs category where we find 20 teams in Quebec. For the last few years Julien has been an assistant coach at different levels such as Junior AA.  He’s at his first experience as a scout but his concern for the details, his good sense of observation and his discretion makes him a great acquisition for the Olympiques.

 

Martin Plante  (Scout- Quebec region)

Martin lives in Québec and he’s responsible for the scouting in that region for the Midget AAA and the Midget Espoirs level. He will cover that region along with Jean-Philippe Llorens. He’s returning to the Olympiques organization which he worked with from 1997 to 2002.  In the mean time he was a scout for PEI Rockets during the season 2005-06 and of the Quebec Remparts from 2006 to 2010 on top of being a part time scout for the Calgary Flames for two seasons. From 2002 to 2005, he was assistant coach for Victoriaville and with the Blizzard of SSF. Being a coach for the past 20 years, martin will bring a lot of experience to the team of scouts of the Olympiques.

 

Steve Davis (Scout- Junior AAA)

He’s native of Gatineau and now living in Mascouche. He played his hockey in the Outaouais region. He’s a new comer in the scouting department. Steve will be responsible for the Junior AAA. For a long time he’s been wishing to be part of a Junior team and the Olympiques finally gave him his chance. His sense of organization and his attention to details will be an asset to the Olympiques.
