October 22, 2010- The Olympiques took advantage of the indiscipline of the MAINEiacs of Lewiston in the third period Friday night to win the game 4-3 at the Robert Guertin Center.
A goal scored on a power play by Jean-Gabriel Pageau ( Deslauriers & Laporte) ended the 3-3 tie between both teams to allow the Olympiques to take the lead and win the first round of this 2 games series.
The Olympiques must thank their number goaltender Maxime Clermont who made some spectacular saves on a few occasions especially in the first period. He allowed his team to never look back.
Mitchell Porowski (Deslauriers & Laporte), Taylor Burke (Conrad & Sandercock) and Jordan Bernier (Halley & Birkoff) also scored for your locals. Michael Chaput, Antoine Houde-Caron and Jess Tanguay scored the 3 goals for the MAINEiacs.
Clermont signed his 6 victory of the season by blocking 27 shots. On the opponent side Jean-Francois Houle and Nicholas Champion stopped 21 shots.
